A BILL to amend article ten, chapter forty-seven of the code of
West Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as
amended, be amended by adding thereto a new section,
designated section six-b, relating to prohibiting the use of
methyl tertiary butyl ether in any liquid fuel or gasoline
sold or distributed in the state.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That article ten, chapter forty-seven of the code of West
Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as amended, be
amended by adding thereto a new section, designated section six-b,
to read as follows:
ARTICLE 10. LIQUID FUELS AND LUBRICATING OILS.
§47-10-6b. Unlawful to sell or distribute gasoline or liquid fuels
containing methyl tertiary butyl ether.





It is unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to sell or
distribute in this state any brand of gasoline, liquid fuels,
lubricating oils or similar products that contain methyl tertiary
butyl ether which is also commonly known as "MTBE".





NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to prohibit the use of
methyl tertiary butyl ether ("MTBE") in any liquid fuel or gasoline
sold or distributed in the state.
